Luca Filippi began his career in the Italian karting championship in 2000. Success followed and by 2004 the Italian finished third in the Formula Renault Italian championship.
A test with the Minardi F1 team followed in 2005 while Filippi won the F3000 title in Italy with FMS.
Filippi moved up to the GP2 series in 2006 initially with FMS before moving mid-season to BCN Competition. It was a difficult season with just seven points on the board.
A move to Super Nova squad saw an upturn in results in 2007 with six podium positions on his way to fourth in the overall standings.
Filippi will have a busy year in 2008 as he will be competing in the GP2 Asia series with Meritus before joining ART Grand Prix for the main GP2 championship. In addition to his GP2 commitments, the Brazilian will also test with the Honda Formula One team.
