Kovalainen has had a good week!
|
Even before taking his maiden Formula One Grand Prix victory in Hungary on Sunday, McLaren-Mercedes management had already confirmed that Heikki Kovalainen's presence within the team would continue for a second consecutive season in 2009.
The Finn is clearly serious about the engagement he intends to develop with the team, an association he hopes will be a long-lasting one indeed.
"Since the beginning of my McLaren career it has been the target to extend this relationship for many, many years," Kovalainen declared during an FIA press conference last week.
"First of all I can say I am very, very happy with this team.
I have had no second thoughts since I joined this team," he underlined, only a few days before becoming F1's 100th driver to win a Grand Prix.
"I think there is a great potential," he added,
"and I want to be part of it."
"I would be happy to finish my career at this team to be honest," Kovalainen stated, echoing comments recently made by his teammate, Lewis Hamilton.
