Minor problems made for less laps
|
Today Robert Kubica continued to work on the setup of the BMW Sauber F1.08 with respect to the Italian Grand Prix, which takes place in less than three weeks' time. He tried different solutions on the aerodynamical and mechanical side as well as sampling the tyre options for the Monza race.
In the morning Kubica had an minor off. Although the car sustained only little damage to the left front, the repairs were time consuming. The team continued with it's testing programme as scheduled after the lunch break.
Alas several red flags called on the track, coupled with a small electrical problem, cut Kubica's track time down to 57 laps. The Pole recorded the day's ninth-fastest run.
Nevertheless with three days of testing in Monza the BMW Sauber F1 Team concluded its successful preparation for the upcoming Belgian and Italian Grands Prix. Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica completed 1,294 kilometres (223 laps) in total.
The team is now looking forward to the Belgian Grand Prix, which will be held in Spa-Francorchamps on the first weekend of September.
