Limited options for Anthony Davidson
|
While Takuma Sato looks to resurrect his F1 career with Toro Rosso, fellow Super Aguri refugee Anthony Davidson may have to cross the Atlantic for his own return to competition.
The 29-year-old Briton was a guest last weekend of the Panther Racing IndyCar team, as the American series raced at Belle Isle in Detroit.
It has emerged that Davidson was scheduled to test for the team, only to injure his shoulder in a mountain bike incident.
However, Panther Racing announced yesterday that it has signed up long-time Ganassi racer Dan Wheldon for 2009 and is looking to retain current driver Vitor Meira, should the funding be found for a second car.
Davidson's potential shot at IndyCar could still be aided by his connections with Honda, for whom he tested for several years in F1 before racing with Honda power at the satellite team Aguri.
Commentating for British radio, he was in the paddock at Valencia for the recent European Grand Prix, admitting that while he wants to return to the grid,
"I would accept a place as a test driver."
