Zoom Slick tyres and KERS for Pedro de la Rosa

After the last lap drama in Brazil at the start of the month, the McLaren Mercedes team were back in action today in the first post-season test kicked off at Circuit de Catalunya.

Lewis Hamilton - along with many of his on-track rivals - may be opting to take some time off from driving duties, but today the test team was back in action with testers Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett.

In dry and sunny conditions de la Rosa completed 65 laps in the modified MP4-23K chassis which features the Kinetic Energy Recovery System as the team look to the 2009 season.

The Spanish veteran set the fourth fastest time in the hybrid machine while Paffett was half a second slower in fifth position.
