Anything is possible in Formula One
|
Gerhard Berger has refused to rule out returning to the F1 paddock with another official role at some point in the future.
The 49-year-old Austrian has effectively 'retired' from the sport three times; once as a driver at the end of 1997, again in 2003 when he stopped being BMW's joint motorsport director, and now by selling back his 50 percent share of the Toro Rosso team.
But he told Germany's
Auto Motor und Sport:
"Don't worry, it is quite possible that I will reappear some day.
"
With the definitive end of the controversial 'customer car' era looming, it is believed Berger decided to cut his ties with the Faenza-based squad in order to simplify Red Bull's sale of the team.
He made his Formula One debut for the ATS team in 1984.
