Zoom Best season so far for Kubica

Robert Kubica's Polish compatriots have voted him the top local sportsperson of 2008.

Almost 130,000 Poles agreed that the BMW Sauber driver, fourth in the drivers' championship and winner of the Canadian Grand Prix, should win the ranking organised by the sports daily Przeglad Sportowy and state television TVP.

In the popularity poll, Kubica, 24, beat Olympic gymnast Leszek Blanik (more than 120,100 votes) and athlete Tomasz Majewski.
