Toyota honour Ceccarelli
|
At first glance, Toyota's doctor Riccardo Ceccarelli was in trouble: on a stretcher and being treated by ... hang on ... Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock?
In fact, the Italian's 300th Grand Prix appearance was being honoured by the Japanese team. After checking his blood pressure and then listening to his heart with a stethoscope, bosses Takashi Yamashima and John Howett presented Ceccarelli with a rear wing endplate bearing the words 'What's up, Doc?'
Bernie Ecclestone is said to want the World Motor Sport Council to reconsider his universally unpopular 'winner takes all' scoring system at its October meeting.
After qualifying, drivers made clear their preference for the current system: even Jenson Button, who with three 'gold medals' already in 2009 would be in a commanding position under Ecclestone's regime.
The Brawn driver said: "Points have been the way for decades and, personally, to change is the wrong thing to do."
