Ferrari taking legal options to block FIA
|
The injunction filed by Ferrari against the FIA will be heard next Tuesday May 19th as the Italian manufacturer attempts to block the implementation of the controversial 2010 regulations adopted recently by the World Motor Sport Council.
Ferrari is also requesting that the French courts order the FIA to remove from its website all modifications pertaining to next year's regulations.
With the FIA having set a May 29 deadline for teams to register their participation in the 2010 season, Ferrari lawyer Emmanuel Gaillard explained the reasons behind the injunction.
"We have to register between May 22nd and 29th and that means accepting the new rules, but these rules do not conform with the commitments taken in regards to Ferrari," he told
AFP.
"We had no other choice."
The meeting held at Heathrow on Friday between team representatives, FIA President Max Mosley and F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone ended in a stalemate as the controversial budget-capping and two-tier regulations are being strongly debated.
