our cars to use KERS at Monaco
McLaren and Ferrari hope to benefit from boost

The Ferrari and McLaren teams have confirmed reports that their respective cars will feature active KERS systems throughout this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.

Renault and BMW Sauber have decided against utilising the controversial energy reuse technology on the twisty confines and short straights of the famous street circuit.

"I would like to see the simulation (showing) that in Monaco you are faster with KERS," Renault's Pat Symonds said last week.

McLaren Mercedes' is arguably the best of the four KERS systems seen at races so far in 2009, but even Heikki Kovalainen admitted that the advantage at Monaco is debatable.

"One of the questions will be whether we'll actually be able to use it to get past other cars -- as usual, KERS will be a benefit for us, but anything can happen in Monte Carlo," said the Finn.

In a media document, Ferrari agreed that the KERS advantage will be "more limited" in the Principality compared with the more flowing circuits.

"But given that the F60 was designed around carrying KERS and this is factored into its weight and distribution, it is logical to run it, no matter how minimal the benefit," the Italian team added.
