An important decison announced for Wednesday
|
A judge presiding over Ferrari's court action said a verdict will be declared on Wednesday.
In Paris' Tribunal de Grande Instance on Tuesday afternoon, three lawyers acting for Ferrari requested an injunction against next year's Formula One regulations, including the controversial budget cap.
The hearing was scheduled at 4pm and took place over the space of one hour.
"The FIA put us in front of a fait accompli," said Ferrari lawyer Emmanuel Gaillard.
"The annual budget of a top team is 400 to 500 million euros. We are talking about an 80% to 90% cost reduction," he explained.
"It's simply impossible."
FIA lawyer Hugues Calvet declared that Ferrari had refused
"any constructive discussion" during the current year.
"These regulations are vital to the survival of Formula 1 and are not discriminatory," he also said.
"They absolutely do not prevent Ferrari from signing up."
Judge Jacques Gondrand de Robert said the court's decision will be declared on Wednesday at 2pm local time.
The decision will affect the tone of the upcoming talks between the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA), which are strongly debating the regulations planned for next year.
