Zoom Liuzzi a passenger as the Force India aquaplaned

Tonio Liuzzi will move to the very rear of the grid after crashing heavily during Interlagos qualifying on Saturday. The Italian actually recorded 15th place on the grid in his Force India before aquaplaning on the pit straight.

He visited the medical centre for a mandatory check but was not hurt in the impact, but an unscheduled gearbox change and subsequent penalty drops him to the back of the pack. While Liuzzi is left frustrated, team-mate Adrian Sutil starts third.

“I am really disappointed and frustrated that the qualifying ended in the way it did as I was pretty convinced I could have got into Q3 and done well - as Adrian has shown today we were very much on it,” he said.

“I am sorry for the team as we could have achieved more but I was a passenger at that stage and couldn't do anything when the car caught that puddle.”
