| This morning’s 90-minute session saw Fernando Alonso set the pace in his McLaren Mercedes from team-mate Lewis Hamilton. With two tyre specs available from Bridgestone, soft and super-soft, Alonso set the pace of the softest option. |

| Hamilton worked just on the harder option and was six-tenths slower than Alonso while Heidfeld was third fastest in his BMW Sauber on the softer tyre. Hamilton however did hit mechanical problems and sat out the latter part of the session. |
