14.00Welcome to F1-Live.com and our live coverage of the 57-lap Bahrain Grand Prix, the third round of the 2007 season.
14.02Felipe Massa claimed Pole Position yesterday at the Sakhir circuit and by quite a margin. It was Massa’s second straight Pole and he will be hoping that there will be no repeat if his performance last time out in Malaysia.
14.04With just seven points on the board after two races, Massa already finds himself trailing championship leader Fernando Alonso by 11 points and team-mate Raikkonen by nine, so a win is very much what is needed this afternoon in Bahrain.
14.06Lewis Hamilton qualified his McLaren Mercedes a fine second yesterday and if the first two races are anything to go by, will be a real threat in the opening laps to Massa. Hamilton is third in the standings with 14 points, just four behind Alonso and two behind Raikkonen. A third straight podium is very much on the cards for Hamilton.
14.08Kimi Raikkonen starts third in the second Ferrari but was half a second slower than Massa in qualifying. There is always the strategy factor in terms of fuel loads, but these days all of the front runners seem to opt for a very similar two-stop strategy. Raikkonen, who won in Australia, starts ahead of arch rival Alonso.
14.10It has been a bit of a low-key weekend so far for Alonso. He dominated the Malaysian Grand Prix last Sunday but here in Bahrain has been missing those critical few tenths. Starting fourth he will be looking to make a fast start and then see if he can use his incredible race pace to make something out of the race.
14.12The battle for the race win will almost certainly be between Ferrari and McLaren, but behind the leading two teams BMW Sauber have very much taken over the role as the third best team in Formula One. Nick Heidfeld starts fifth and will be looking for another consistent run while Robert Kubica starts sixth and will simply be hoping for a reliable run after problems in the opening two races of the season.
14.14Giancarlo Fisichella did a reasonable job to qualify his Renault seventh. The team are a long way from where they were a year ago and seem a little lost with the R27. Fisichella gained four places at the start in Malaysia and then cruised to the flag. He will be aiming to do the same in Bahrain.
14.16Mark Webber qualified his Red Bull Renault a solid eighth. The team has yet to score a point this year so this will be the main challenge for Webber. However, Webber’s race pace in Malaysia was not great and he will also have to keep an eye on his rear view mirrors as Toyota, Renault and Williams are close behind.
14.18Jarno Trulli starts ninth in the leading Toyota and will be hoping to add to the two he collected last time out, while Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz will be looking to move up the order. Reliability remains a question mark with Williams Toyota.
14.20Heikki Kovalainen starts his third Grand Prix for Renault from 12th position and like his team-mate will be looking to make up ground at the start. It remains to be seen if he will have the pace to challenge for a point.
14.22Of the rest, Anthony Davidson was delighted to qualify his Super Aguri Honda in 13th position ahead of Ralf Schumacher who is struggling with basic understeer in his Toyota.
14.24The Honda duo of Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button start 15th and 16th and should be able to gain a few positions. Barrichello has actually run fairly well in the opening two races while Jenson Button has struggled more with the difficult RA107.
14.26Takuma Sato starts 17th ahead of the Toro Rosso duo of Tonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed while Adrian Sutil starts 20th in his Spyker ahead of David Coulthard who had mechanical problems with his RB3 in qualifying and Christijan Albers in the second Spyker.
14.28The cars are all lined up on the grid, the drivers are strapped in and we await the signal to fire up the engines. It’s hot and sunny with quite a stiff breeze blowing.
14.29The engines fire up and the grid is being cleared.
14.30The parade lap is now underway with Felipe Massa leading the field around to reform on the grid.
14.31They all seem to be away without a problem. All of the front runners are on the softer medium tyres.
14.32Liuzzi is the only driver on the harder compound. he starts 18th in his STR2.
14.33Massa lines up his Ferrari on the Pole Position with Hamilton, Raikkonen, Alonso and the rest of the field taking up position...

Lap 2Kovalainen was the man to gain at the start as he is up to ninth from 12th. The safety car remains on track.
Lap 3Tonio Liuzzi has pitted his STR. He has taken the softer tyre now.
Lap 3Liuzzi will probably aim to make just one more stop now, so he only did a lap really on the harder tyre.

Lap 15Raikkonen now slides wide in the Ferrari but does not lose much time.
Lap 16Hamilton puts in the fastest lap of the race. The pace is furious at the front.
Lap 16A nice pass from Trulli. He seemed to catch Kovalainen napping under braking.
Lap 17Coulthard is now ahead of of Wurz and putting the pressure on Kovalainen.
Lap 17No changes at the front. Kovalainen, Coulthard, Wurz and Rosberg run nose to tail mid-pack.

Lap 18Ralf Schumacher also pitted.
Lap 18Coulthard retained position on Wurz.
Lap 18The gap at the front remains a second between Massa and Hamilton.
Lap 20Hamilton pits from second position.
Lap 20Not a very fast stop as Fisichella also pits
Lap 20Rosberg runs off track and rejoins. He and Kovalainen both ran off track but Rosberg made the pass.
Lap 21Alonso now runs second with Hamilton having pitted.
Lap 21Sato has pitted his Super Aguri Honda.
Lap 22Massa pits from the lead.
Lap 22Massa exits behind Kubica and ahead of Hamilton.
Lap 22Trulli pits his Toyota.
Lap 23Alonso pits his McLaren.
Lap 23A clean stop from Alonso.
Lap 23So Raikkonen has yet to pit and leads at the moment.
Lap 23Liuzzi has retired his Toro Rosso. A rotten race for him.
Lap 24Raikkonen and Heidfeld both pit.
Lap 24A quick stop and Raikkonen has exited the pits ahead of Alonso. So Massa now leads Hamilton, Raikkonen and Alonso.
Lap 26Kovalainen has pitted his Renault.
Lap 26Heidfeld is now pushing hard to find a way ahead of Alonso.
Lap 26Things are going well for Ferrari as Massa gained five seconds in that stop over Hamilton while Raikkonen got ahead of Alonso.
Lap 27Rosberg runs off track again. He is fighting to try and find a way ahead of Trulli.
Lap 27Hamilton does not have the pace at the moment as Raikkonen is now closing in.
Lap 27Fisichella is now under pressure from both Webber and Coulthard. Davidson has yet to pit.
Lap 27Webber's fuel flap is open. Coulthard passes his team-mate for position.
Lap 28Davidson makes his first stop. A very long first stint.
Lap 29Our timing has now corrected itself. No changes at the front!
Lap 30Heidfeld continues to shadow Alonso who still runs fourth.
Lap 30Coulthard is shaping up to try and pass Fisichella.
Lap 31A nice pass from David Coulthard as he moves into seventh position.
Lap 32Heidfeld has a look to pass Alonso.
Lap 32A great pass from Heidfeld. Around the outside of Alonso at turn four.
Lap 33So Massa extends his lead ny the lap from Hamilton who has struggled in this second stint. Raikkonen is a couple of seconds back in third ahead of Heidfeld and Alonso.
Lap 33It seems that Webber has also passed Fisichella and is now up to eighth. Renault are on the slide in race conditions.
Lap 34Coulthard is now aiming to close the big gap to Kubica who runs a lonely sixth.
Lap 35Fisichella now has Trulli, Rosberg and Wurz all behind him.
Lap 35Wurz pits his Williams from 12th.
Lap 35A massive engine failure from Sato's Honda. He was 16th.

Lap 36Coulthard pits from seventh.
Lap 37Rosberg is the next to line up and try and pass the srtuggling Fisichella.
Lap 37Coulthard slows. A shame after a great race from the back of the field. It looks like an engine failure. He pits and retires.
Lap 37Coulthard had just pitted from seventh

Lap 45Fisichella makes his second stop.

Lap 47Alonso is running better on this third stint and closing in on Nick Heidfeld.
Lap 47Hamilton is also closing on Massa, but it is quite a gap to try and close down, let alone make a pass.

Lap 49Hamilton is pushing hard but the gap remains constant on that lap.
