| Welcome to F1-Live.com and continued coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. After a day off for the Formula One teams, they are back in action this morning with the third and final practice session ahead of qualifying. |
| 10:52:12
| It seems a long time since the cars were in action, so in summary, Lewis Hamilton set the Thursday pace and was very happy with the balance on his McLaren Mercedes. The Australian Grand Prix winner set a best lap of 1:15.140s, nearly four tenths ahead of Nico Rosberg. |
| 10:54:10
| The Williams racer has run well so far at Monaco and while he admits he does not expect to challenge the front runners in qualifying, he is hopeful that he can perhaps split the BMW Sauber duo as he targets sixth on the grid. |
| 10:56:15
| Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest in his Ferrari ahead of team-mate Felipe Massa and Heikki Kovalainen in the second McLaren. Robert Kubica was sixth fastest for BMW Sauber ahead of Fernando Alonso (Renault), Jenson Button (Honda), Kazuki Nakajima (Williams) and Rubens Barrichello (Honda). |
| 10:58:42
| Toro Rosso have the new STR3 chassis at this Grand Prix, but so far it has been pretty mixed for the team Sebastian Vettel seems to be struggling a lot and was slowest on Thursday, while Sebastien Bourdais was mildly content with 18th fastest but was hoping for a lot better with the new package. |
| 11:00:50
| The 60-minute session is now underway. It is not raining but the circuit is wet. |
| 11:01:36
| The early runners are on track for an installation lap. |
| 11:03:24
| Sebastian Vettel has stayed out for an additional lap. |
| 11:05:00
| Felipe Massa is on track. Vettel has pitted without setting a lap time. |
| 11:05:40
| The circuit is drying fast, so may not be much of an issue as the session continues. |
| 11:06:14
| Massa sets the initial pace on a high 1:23. |
| 11:07:53
| Massa remains on track and improves his own best. A number of others runners are back out after an initial installtion lap. |
| 11:08:58
| Rosberg moves second behind Massa and ahead of Nakajima. |
| 11:11:40
| All but Piquet and Coulthard on track. There is a threat of rain so they want to get some dry(ish) running completed now. |
| 11:12:04
| Raikkonen moves fastest for Ferrari ahead of Massa and Webber. |
| 11:14:19
| All change again as Massa moves fastest ahead of Kovalainen, Rosberg and Raikkonen. The times are changing the lap. |
| 11:16:09
| Fisichella runs off track but is able to continue. |
| 11:16:46
| Raikkonen is now fastest from Massa and Kovalainen with Barrichello up to fourth |
| 11:17:09
| Only Coulthard has yet to set a lap time. |
| 11:17:52
| Hamilton gets a clear lap and moves fastest ahead of team-mate Kovalainen who is up to second. |
| 11:19:55
| The McLaren duo pit. Raikkone remains on track as Kubica moves fourth fastest. |
| 11:20:14
| A gain for Raikkonen who splits the McLarens. |
| 11:21:07
| A gain for Bourdais who vaults tenth fastest in his STR3. |
| 11:22:08
| Adrian Sutil runs seventh at the moment in his Force India. |
| 11:22:45
| There are some spots of rain in the air but it is not effecting the circuit as yet. |
| 11:24:07
| Most have pitted as there is a little light rain, but it will not be effecting the circuit yet. Kovalainen remains on track. |
| 11:24:29
| Nico Rosberg improves and is now fourth fastest in his Williams Toyota. |
| 11:25:39
| Kovalainen moves fastest as Fisichella is slow on the circuit. |
| 11:27:13
| Kovalainen has spun his McLaren on his next hot lap. |
| 11:27:56
| He has damaged the McLaren exiting Piscine. He is stopped with right rear damage. |
| 11:30:31
| No one improving at the moment as there are yellow flags out for Kovalainen. |
| 11:30:57
| The red flag is out. That must be to collect the damamaged McLaren. |
| 11:31:40
| The drivers return to the pit lane. |
| 11:32:45
| So the session remains halted for now as they clear the circuit. |
| 11:34:33
| The session is back underway but there is now a little more rain in the air. No one on track. |
| 11:36:50
| Nelson Piquet heads out in his Renault. |
| 11:37:54
| Alonso joins team-mate Piquet on track, he is on rain tyres although it is not very wet. |
| 11:38:30
| Jenson Button heads out in his Honda. |
| 11:40:00
| Piquet, Alonso and Button are taking it slow as the conditions have gotten worse. |
| 11:40:20
| Button pits the Honda. |
| 11:40:43
| A quick stop and Button is back out in the now wet conditions. |
| 11:41:17
| Trulli, Vettel, Heidfeld join the circuit. |
| 11:41:45
| Rosberg is back out in his Williams. |
| 11:42:40
| As you would expect, the lap times at the moment are far slower than earlier. Kovalainen set the pace just at the right time before crashing! |
| 11:43:48
| Kubica is now out as well. They want to run in the wet in case it is raining for either the race or qualifying. |
| 11:45:45
| Rosberg just lapped in a mid 1:32 showing how slippery it is at the moment. |
| 11:46:08
| Kimi Raikkonen heads out. |
| 11:47:54
| Coulthard did get a run in before the reg flags. He must have had a mechanical problem with his RB4. He is back out now, but slowest of the 20 runners. |
| 11:48:28
| The track is not that wet, but the times have fallen a great deal. The cars are hard to drive at Monaco without driver aids. |
| 11:48:46
| It may be wet, but no spray as yet. |
| 11:51:27
| The circuit is busy now with all but a handful of drivers on track. It doesn't seem that the circuit will dry enough for any gains however with nine minutes remaining. |
| 11:53:28
| Hamilton just posted a lap in the high 1:32s range, so the circuit has lost about 15 seconds. |
| 11:56:03
| Nick Heidfeld heads back out. He has no chance of improving his best time, but will be looking to get some wet weather running in the final minutes. |
| 11:58:00
| The rain has stopped now, but the circuit is still wet. |
| 11:59:34
| Changing conditions now as there is even a little sun. |
| 12:00:04
| The chequered flag is out. |
| 12:00:30
| No gains in the wet conditions at the end of the session, so Kovalainen is fastest from McLaren team-mate Hamilton with Raikkonen third ahead of Rosberg, Kubica, Massa, Webber, Sutil, Nakajima and Button. |
