09:50:41 Welcome to F1-Live.com and coverage of day two of the action from Montreal. The third and final practice session ahead of qualifying this afternoon begins shortly.
09:52:37 Friday free practice saw Lewis Hamilton top the timesheets for McLaren Mercedes with a best lap of 1:15.752s, 0.271s clear of Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber. Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest in his Ferrari ahead of Heikki Kovalainen in the second McLaren.
09:54:08 Felipe Massa was fifth fastest but joined Timo Glock, Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet in losing track time after his Ferrari ran into technical problems.
09:56:36 While McLaren, BMW Sauber and Ferrari looked strong as usual, Honda and Renault had a dismal opening day of practice. A mistake from Alonso saw him spin and stall his R28 while Nelson Piquet’s gearbox stopped his session. Over at Honda Jenson Button had no mechanical issues but was off the pace (19th) and it seems the team really are making no significant progress with the disappointing RA108.
09:58:27 It is a dry day at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This session is 60 minutes and most will use the track time to prepare for qualifying.
10:00:05 The session is now underway.
10:00:33 Force India send Sutil and Fisichella straight out.
10:01:02 Trulli, Vettel and others are now leaving the pits for what will be an installation lap.
10:01:38 They will complete one lap and pit for checks as the cars are now fitted with the race engine and gearbox.
10:02:18 The early runners are heading straight back to the pits.
10:04:07 Kovalainen, Hamilton and Webber are on track but will join the rest in the pit shortly.
10:04:23 No sign yet of Ferrari and Honda.
10:05:03 No one on track.
10:10:27 Ten minutes complete and 16 of the 20 drivers have completed an out lap. No one has set a time and no one on track at the moment.
10:13:01 Nick Heidfeld and Sebastien Bourdais head out.
10:13:53 Now Sutil, Fisichella and Raikkonen on track.
10:15:20 Button also on track as Heidfeld is about to record the first timed lap of the session.
10:15:49 A low 19s lap from Heidfeld, roughly three seconds off his Friday best.
10:16:57 Heidfeld sets the initial pace from Fisichella, Raikkonen, Sutil, Bourdais and Vettel.
10:17:11 Kovalainen is now on track.
10:17:36 Raikkonen moves fastest for Ferrari.
10:17:57 Massa has rolled out of the pits.
10:18:38 The circuit is now busy with all but the Red Bull duo on track.
10:19:04 Hamilton set the Friday pace on a 1:15.752s lap.
10:19:29 Raikkonen remains fastest as Kubica moves second.
10:20:53 An improvement from Kubica as he is now P1 ahead of Raikkonen, Kovalainen and Fisichella.
10:21:19 Nico Rosberg takes over fourth ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
10:22:23 Webber is the only driver not to set a time at the moment. He may have a problem with his RB4.
10:22:43 Rosberg vaults fastest in his Williams ahead of Kubica and Raikkonen.
10:23:09 Now Raikkonen improves and pushes Rosberg down to P2.
10:23:52 Piquet improves and moves from fifth to second in the Renault. He needs a good result this weekend.
10:24:28 Webber is now out in his Red Bull and should be setting his first timed lap soon.
10:25:44 A gain from Rosberg moves him fastest as he and the team work towards qualifying.
10:27:16 Most are running six to eight laps and pitting. The front runners are all returning to the pits.
10:28:31 Webber is working his way up the order and is now sixth fastest for Red Bull.
10:30:08 Heidfeld is way down the order in 17th at the moment with team-mate Kubica tenth.
10:30:55 A gain of 11 positions for Bourdais who is now seventh. Webber picks up one position.
10:34:06 The top ten are all in the pits. Kubica has just gone back out.
10:34:32 Button is still struggling in his Honda. Barrichello is ninth and Button 19th.
10:34:59 Vettel moves eighth fastest.
10:35:44 Piquet remains fourth as he returns to the track for a second stint.
10:36:49 A gain for Kubica who is now seventh in the leading BMW Sauber.
10:37:30 Kovalainen moves seventh in his McLaren. Raikkonen is back on track.
10:38:14 Kovalainen is picking up the pace as he is now third behind Raikkonen and Rosberg.
10:40:06 Hamilton is now 11th but is back out for his second stint.
10:41:02 Hamilton is soon on the pace as he moves fifth and starts another quick lap.
10:42:12 Another gain for Hamilton who is now third.
10:42:48 Alonso is down the order in his Renault at the moment. He is back out looking to try and find some pace.
10:43:57 A gain for Bourdais who is now P8. This is just the second race for the team with the new STR3 car.
10:44:35 Now Vettel improves and is seventh in his STR3.
10:45:57 The red flag is out with 15 minutes remaining.
10:47:55 Sebastian Vettel has gone off and damaged his Toro Rosso. He is out of the car but the session is halted.
10:48:56 So the action is halted for the moment as the STR3 is removed.
10:50:59 It was a rear impact for Vettel at turn nine which is where Kubica crashed so heavily last year. The debris are being cleared away.
10:52:52 The Toro Rosso has been removed. Seven minutes remain in this session.
10:54:34 The session is now back underway with six minutes remaining.
10:55:12 Most are heading straight back out. They are running out of time....
10:55:45 All on track but Alonso and Rosberg.
10:57:15 Now all on track except the unfortunate Vettel. The team do not have a great deal of time to prepare for qualifying.
10:57:30 Coulthard moves 11th in his Red Bull.
10:58:25 Nakajima moves fifth with Trulli now up to sixth.
10:59:16 Now Bourdais has gone off mid-lap and brought out the yellows. He's 12th at the moment.
11:00:28 The chequered flag is out. No one is going to improve with the yellow flag still out.
11:01:24 Rosberg is fastest this morning from Raikkonen, Hamilton, Massa, Nakajima, Trulli, Kovalainen, Piquet, Webber and Vettel.
