13:50:21 Welcome to F1-Live.com and live coverage of the second free practice session from Spa Francorchamps. The 90-minute session begins shortly.
13:52:29 Felipe Massa and Ferrari dominated free practice this morning with the Brazilian setting the pace with a best lap of 1:47.284s, three tenths clear of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.
13:54:19 McLaren Mercedes proved best-of-the-rest with Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen third and fourth fastest respectively, but both over half a second off the pace of Massa.
13:56:30 Fernando Alonso ran well in the leading Renault to post the fifth fastest time ahead of Mark Webber in the Red Bull Renault and the Toro Rosso Ferrari duo of Sebastien Bourdais and Sebastian Vettel.
13:58:33 BMW Sauber seemed to struggle with handling issues with Robert Kubica just 11th best, while Honda were slowest by some margin with Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.
14:00:16 It is overcast and dry. The second free practice session is now underway.
14:00:49 Vettel is the first man on track in his Toro Rosso. Nick Heidfeld follows for BMW Sauber.
14:01:42 Others are now heading out. They will get straight on with the lapping as rain could be on the way.
14:02:34 Vettel starts the first timed lap. Over half of the field is straight out.
14:03:27 Vettel is on the soft tyre at the moment and set a 1:48.9 this morning.
14:04:30 Vettel's first lap is a 1:50.8. Only Webber, Kovalainen and Fisichella remaining in the pits.
14:05:07 They all seem to be on the soft tyre at the moment which is unusual. However it was worth four-tenths this morning.
14:05:40 All change as the lap times come in. Hamilton is fastest from Trulli, Vettel, Piquet and Heidfeld.
14:06:47 Coulthard, Bourdais and Raikkonen slot second, third and fourth.
14:07:02 Kovalainen remains in the pits.
14:08:08 Massa is on his first timed lap and is on the soft tyre as well.
14:08:31 Massa and Raikkonen move second and third fastest ahead of Trulli and behind Hamilton.
14:09:02 Heidfeld is opting to run on the hard tyre at the moment.
14:09:21 Raikkonen runs wide at Malmedy.
14:09:53 Now Bourdais out brakes himself and takes a trip across the grass.
14:10:22 Alonso moves fourth fastest. Hamilton has pitted leaving Massa and Raikkonen on track.
14:11:02 Kovalainen is on track for the first time.
14:11:48 Kovalainen's first lap moves him sixth as spots of rain come down.
14:12:07 Kovalainen is on the hard tyre.
14:12:56 Massa remains on track. The other front-runners are pitting as light rain is starting to fall.
14:14:13 Hamilton heads back out this time on the hard tyre.
14:14:52 The track remains dry despite some spots of rain.
14:16:02 Alonso is back out for a second stint and remaining on the softer tyre.
14:17:05 Heidfeld's second run is on the soft tyre.
14:18:55 A small gain from Kubica as he moves into the top ten.
14:19:09 Massa pits after a long stint.
14:20:31 The circuit remains busy but the tyres have passed their best mostly on this stint.
14:20:56 Vettel moves fifth fastest.
14:21:59 Webber, 20th, is off.
14:22:46 The Red Bull is into the tyre wall at turn eight. He is out of the car and okay.
14:23:53 Webber simply lost the RB4 and that will be the end of his session with left front damage.
14:25:21 Most have pitted. Kovalainen is on track again on the soft tyre.
14:26:52 The rain is starting to fall again and most have pitted. Glock runs off track at Les Combes.
14:28:09 The circuit is now getting damp and everyone has returned to the pits.
14:29:18 With the rain coming down, most will wait for fully wet conditions and then head back out to get some wet running completed.
14:30:31 Actually, if anything it looks like the rain may pass over. But at Spa you never know!
14:33:26 Bourdais heads out in his Toro Rosso Ferrari. He is on full wet tyres I think.
14:34:25 Correction, Bourdais is on the dry tyre and that is why he is so slow. He is making his way back to the pits.
14:35:09 Bourdais pits the STR3.
14:36:14 Everyone in the pits waiting to see what the weather will do.
14:39:05 While there may be no activity now, they will run even if the rains continue. A wet Grand Prix or qualifying session is always a possibility here, so they will want the data.
14:43:53 Alonso is sitting in his Renault waiting to go out. There is still some light rain falling, but nothing significant.
14:45:34 Still no track activity.
14:48:55 Sebastian Vettel heads out in his Toro Rosso Ferrari.
14:49:39 Vettel is on the soft tyre showing that the circuit still has some grip.
14:50:27 There's no spray at all but the track must be pretty slippery after the light rains.
14:51:32 Vettel's first timed lap is seven seconds off the ultimate pace showing the lack of grip. The times will come down...
14:53:05 Vettel is picking up the pace as his next lap is 4.1 seconds off the pace.
14:55:12 Another lap from Vettel who is less than three seconds off the pace now and roughtly two seconds off his earlier dry time.
14:55:38 Fisichella and Sutil head out for Force India.
14:56:15 Rosberg and Nakajima head out for Williams.
14:57:26 Now Alonso, Barrichello and Raikkonen join the action.
14:57:48 Massa, Kovalaionen and others now heading out.
14:58:02 Raikkonen has lost his rear wing!
14:58:39 Raikkonen went off and backwards into the tyre wall at tunr nine.
14:58:55 Raikkonen is now making his way back to the Ferrari pit.
14:59:29 Just over 30 minutes remain and it is clear that the conditions are not ideal.
14:59:53 Raikkonen is now back to the Ferrari pit.
15:00:08 Fisichella spins off and has made contact with the barriers.
15:00:48 Fisichella has damage to both the front and rear of the Force India.
15:01:09 The red flag is out.
15:01:50 There is a trail of water on the circuit. Fisichella is out of the car and okay. Fisichella could have spun on water put down by Raikkonen's Ferrari at a guess.
15:04:23 Fisichella lost the Force India exiting Pouhon and it seems that Raikkonen's F2008 had put down some oil and/or water.
15:05:03 The water is actually coming from the tyre wall that Raikkonen struck and it is now flowing across the circuit.
15:05:33 Fisichella's car is now being craned away.
15:06:14 The red flag remains out while the Force India is removed and the circuit is cleaned up.
15:07:39 The marshals are sweeping the water that is running across the circuit at turn nine.
15:10:21 The session is back underway.
15:10:57 They are now heading back out.
15:11:33 Alonso, Trulli, Heidfeld, Kubica, Piquet, Glock and others straight out.
15:12:39 It is doubtful that Raikkonen will be out again in this session while it is certain that Fisichella will not.
15:13:34 Apart from the small river at turn nine, the circuit now seems dry.
15:15:57 The lap times remain some way off at the moment. Nakajima just finished a lap four seconds off the ultimate pace.
15:16:13 The fastest three remain in the pits.
15:17:57 All of the surviving cars are back out except Massa and Raikkonen.
15:18:50 A number of cars suddenly returning to the pit lane. That could be an indicator of some light rain somewhere on the circuit.
15:19:12 Kovalainen completed a lap 2.4s off Hamilton;s best.
15:19:47 Piquet has been caught out at turn nine and backed the Renault into the tyres, just like Raikkonen.
15:20:08 Piquet is now slowly making his way back to the pits.
15:21:23 Hamilton is lapping three second off the pace at the moment.
15:21:49 Nico Rosberg moves fifth proving that there is still some time in the circuit.
15:22:29 Rosberg just lapped over a second faster than his earlier time.
15:23:57 Massa heads out in his Ferrari. Raikkonen remains in the pits.
15:24:42 Kovalainen vaults third fastest on the soft tyre.
15:26:21 Nakajima gets into the tow of one of the BMW Saubers but does not have the pace to pass into Les Combes.
15:26:44 Kovalainen moves fastest, Massa and Alonso on hot laps.
15:26:58 Alonso moves fastest for Renault.
15:27:38 Massa moves second fastest.
15:27:54 Alonso is on the hard tyre, Massa on the soft.
15:28:30 Kovalainen improves his time but remains third fastest.
15:28:47 A slow lap that time around for Hamilton.
15:29:22 Massa also lost time on that last lap around.
15:30:05 The chequered flag is out.
15:30:19 Rosberg's Williams is being pushed up the pit lane.
15:30:43 No one seems to be on a hot laps and it seems Alonso has set the pace in this session for Renault.
15:31:33 Alonso is fastest from Massa, Kovalainen, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Rosberg, Vettel, Sutil, Trulli and Heidfeld.
