There's a new name on the Grand Prix grid in 2009 following the sale of the Honda Formula One team to former Team Principal Ross Brawn.
After a winter of uncertainty following Honda's announcement in December that they were to withdraw from the sport, the new team was confirmed in March 2009 just in time for a final shakedown of the new car ahead of the Australian Grand Prix.
Ahead of the new season it is not clear how the team is being financed although there are reports that the new squad has had an advance on expected television revenues and that Honda is helping during the transition period.
The Mercedes-powered BGP001 chassis is the work of the Honda staff and effectively a clean sheet of paper following the disastrous RA108 design. However, with so little testing, the team face a tough season.
Honda of course purchased the Brackley-based team from British American Racing who in turn purchased the team from Tyrrell. Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello are retained on the driving front, an experienced driver line-up.
